Malaysia
In 2005, the Fatwa Council of Malaysia issued a fatwa against Valentine’s Day. In 2011, there were reports of Valentine’s Day revelers being arrested and deported.
Iran
Valentine’s Day is banned in Iran. Valentine’s Day symbols, special merchandise in shops and all activities reminiscent of Valentine’s Day have been banned in the country.
Pakistan
In 2016, the then President Mamnoon Hussain told Pakistani citizens to stay away from Valentine’s Day celebrations. No signs of Valentine’s Day in public.
Indonesia
Although there is no law prohibiting Valentine’s Day in Indonesia, some regions do not promote Valentine’s Day or the sale of related items.
Uzbekistan
Until 2012, there was no problem celebrating Valentine’s Day in Uzbekistan. But later, the authorities announced that instead of Valentine’s Day, the birthday of the country’s hero Babur should be celebrated. Celebrating Valentine’s Day is not yet legally banned in the country.
