Egyptian Medicine Authority
The Egyptian Medicine Authority issued a warning to citizens regarding the presence of 3 counterfeit medicines in the markets. The Authority warned citizens once morest purchasing medicines from outside the pharmacy. In case of doubt regarding these medicines, one must return to the Medicine Authority or call the Authority’s hotline, which is 15301.
The authority continued that the circulation, control and seizure of the counterfeit preparation of the drug Prisoline Eye Drop, which is an antibiotic that works to constrict blood vessels, which helps remove congestion, has been stopped.
The Egyptian Medicine Authority also warned once morest the compositing inhaler preparation, and the authority said that the circulation of counterfeit preparations in the market has been stopped and this product has been seized and released, and citizens must ask the pharmacist before purchasing or contact the authority via the hotline.
It is worth noting that this preparation is used to treat asthma and obstructive pulmonary disease, and is used for children.
The Medicines Authority issued a warning regarding another product from fraudulent packages of the drug Suprax 100 mg/ml, which is a medicine used in urinary tract infections and the middle ear. The Medicines Authority called on citizens to be careful regarding using this preparation, as this product was seized from the pharmaceutical market and leaflets were submitted to Pharmacies, within the framework of the Authority’s concern for the health and safety of citizens and working to control the pharmaceutical market in Egypt.
The Drug Authority also sent an awareness letter to the pharmacy regarding the possibility of the presence of packages that do not belong to the company Novo, which produces the biosimilar Ozempic, which is a treatment for type 2 diabetes. The Drug Authority advised citizens not to buy except through pharmacies, and if in doubt, contact the Authority’s hotline.
