After years of speculation by the gaming community, Valve has finally announced the release of the long-awaited Counter Strike 2, successor to the most popular game currently on Steam, Counter Strike – Global Offensive. The new game was developed in Valve’s graphics engine, “Source 2”.

By porting the game to the new graphics engine, Valve decided to take advantage of the transition to modify some maps. Others, to preserve identity and balance, remain the same.
reworked maps
Valve took the opportunity to rework some maps from scratch, taking advantage of the new engine’s new rendering tools and features. In the image below, we have the Overpass map.
improved maps
Since the maps are one of CS’s strongest points, Valve rarely launches modifications, as any barrel and box that are exchanged already changes the gameplay and dynamics of the match. In the case of the Nuke map, minor physical modifications were made – but the lighting was completely overhauled, check it out:
classic maps
There are maps that represent CS, like the classic Dust 2. In these, Valve has chosen to change only the lighting. Nothing more.
