Counter Strike 2: a release on September 27, 2023?

We have known for several months now that the historic competitive FPS Counter Strike will have a sequel. It was supposed to be released this summer, but here it is autumn, and fans still haven’t been able to fragger on the new version of Valve’s shooter. However, optimism is in order, since the official X account (ex-twitter) of Counter Strike showed signs of activity and, with a very innocuous little sentence, has just given hope to the players.

For those who skipped their English classes because they preferred to shoot at their friends on LAN: “What are you doing next Wednesday?“. The community manager is therefore meeting the community on September 27, and it is a safe bet that it will be for the official release of Counter Strike 2.

Few new things

Counter Strike 2 will not constitute a revolution. The graphics should undergo a significant facelift to meet current standards, but the heart of the game will remain very similar to what offers CS:GO for two decades now. It appears that the behavior of the smoke produced by smoke grenades has been reworked. The plumes should react more naturally with their environment and, for example, thicken when they encounter the ceiling of a closed room. More interesting, the technology of subticks must bring increased responsiveness to the servers thanks to improved monitoring of the player’s behavior, both their movements and their way of aiming, shooting, throwing grenades… Good point, Valve promises that the equipment gleaned for many years on CS:GO will be usable in Counter Strike 2.
