Council of Ministers I The Mpox virus on the menu of discussions in Beit-salam – – Al Watwan

The Council of Ministers took place yesterday Wednesday at the presidential palace of Beit-salam under the chairmanship of the Head of State Azali Assoumani. Several subjects were on the agenda. But the risks posed by the spread of the Mpox disease dominated the discussions. On this subject, the Minister of Health announced that he wanted to take all necessary precautions with the support of the authorities to prevent the intrusion of the disease into the country. The Mpox virus (monkeypox, formerly “monkeypox”) is an infectious disease due to an orthopoxvirus which is characterized in particular by a skin rash and which can be isolated or preceded or accompanied by a fever or lymph nodes.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised its highest alert level yet in the face of the spread of the Mpox virus. With more than 500 deaths since the beginning of the year, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains the country most affected by the epidemic, but it is spreading to other countries. “The authorities, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, will raise the alert level to prevent the virus from reaching our country,” said government spokesperson Fatima Ahamada.

For his part, the Minister of the Interior reported on the results achieved in his department aimed at improving the work of certain services and administrations under his authority, particularly those responsible for issuing civil status documents, including birth certificates in particular. The Minister is requesting the government’s support to strengthen the technical capacities of the various services responsible for issuing civil status documents.

Regarding the recent strike by drivers on Ndzuani Island, the government spokesperson announced an agreement reached after several discussions between the authorities, the police and the leaders of Usukani wa Massiwa. “There was a misinterpretation regarding the issue of issuing driving licenses,” said Fatima Ahamada.

The Ministry of the Interior returned to the problem of migrants arriving in the Comoros, whose numbers continue to grow. Mahamoud Fakridine advocates for the establishment of a specific service in charge of controlling the flow of migrants, especially during this period when the Mpox disease seriously threatens the countries of the sub-region.
