Attention is focusing on whether there is a connection between the withdrawal of flu and pneumonia patients and the spread of fever in some regions such as Pyongyang.

Voice of America (VOA) reported on the 27th that it appeared that vehicles and troops had withdrawn all at once from the North Korean military parade training ground where movements such as troops were recently captured. As cases of flu and pneumonia have recently occurred in some parts of North Korea, including Pyongyang, there is an analysis that this may be related to the troop withdrawal.

VOA reported that the satellite image of ‘Planet Labs’ on the 26th revealed the empty area in the northwest of the training ground, which was full of vehicles until regarding 10 days ago, and the center of the training ground where some troop formations were captured. He added that there were no traces of vehicles or crowds around the training ground.

North Korea has usually held large-scale events such as military parades on 5-year and 10-year anniversaries. Given that this year marks the 70th anniversary of Victory Day (the anniversary of the Korean War Armistice Agreement), it was expected that the military parade will be held on July 27 and September 9, which marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the regime.

VOA also supported the possibility of holding a military parade, saying that a group of dots that appeared to be the ranks of troops was captured in satellite photos taken on the 19th of the military parade training ground north of Mirim Airfield in Pyongyang, North Korea.

VOA said, “It is not uncommon for the number of troops and vehicles to withdraw from the training ground rather than increasing following being captured.” He added, “As the troops withdrew from the training ground, it became unclear whether the actual military parade would be held.”

Some also believe that the occurrence of fever patients in North Korea may be related to the withdrawal from the training ground. In fact, Radio Free Asia (RFA), citing local sources in North Korea, reported that fever patients such as influenza and pneumonia were occurring in Pyongyang, North Pyongan Province, and Yanggang Province, as well as deaths.

VOA said, “There are reports that the second pandemic will reach its peak at the end of next month due to the re-proliferation of the new coronavirus in China.”
