Titanic director James Cameron confirms that the gate used by Rose would not have supported Jack’s extra weight in the freezing waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
“We did scientific research to finally answer that question once and for good,” he told the Toronto Sun.
He mentions on a daily basis that his team really did a study to settle the debate with the help of an expert in hypothermia.

“We reproduced the door from the film. Two stuntmen tried the experiment equipped with sensors in icy waters and following testing several scenarios, we concluded that the two characters might not have survived in any way, ”he mentions.
The Titanic film was released on December 19, 1997 and celebrates its 25th anniversary on Monday.
It is also the third most successful film in history, according to Box Office Mojo, with more than 2.2 billion dollars.
