Anija municipal council member Priit Raudkivi proposed the idea of establishing a cemetery in Kehra or its immediate surroundings.

“This thought came for a very prosaic reason. I have lived in Kehra all my life, but my parents have come here from other places. If something were to happen to me or my parents, who are not related to Raasik or Kos, where would we be buried? At the moment, the Raasik cemetery seems to be the only option, but it is rather a forced option, not that I would like it,” explained Priit Raudkivi.

He added that none of his relatives have been buried in Raasik, the cemetery closest to his hometown, which is why he once even thought regarding making a small shrine for urns next to his home. However, he believes that a cemetery is needed in Kehra, because the city has more and more residents, including people who speak other languages, who have no contact with the historic Harju-Jaan cemetery in Raasik.
