A donation as generous as it was unexpected. The town of Ploubezre (Côtes-d’Armor) was designated in the will of Daniel Ollivier as his universal legatee. And the legacy, which includes all of his real estate and bank assets, amounts to… 800,000 euros.

The information was revealed this Friday during the municipal council by Brigitte Gourhant, mayor of this town of 3,500 inhabitants, according to our colleagues from West France. Daniel Ollivier, the discreet benefactor, died on June 12 at the age of 57.

Higher education professor

He was a “very discreet man, from the agricultural world”, and who “had a strong work ethic”, according to the mayor, relayed by the local daily. After studies and a few odd jobs, the man who was considered by those close to him as someone “discreet, cheerful and hardworking” became a higher education professor. Daniel Olivier lived in Ploubezre but worked in Chartres (Eure-et-Loir). Between his teaching hours, he also gave lessons in a prison.

In recent years, several municipalities have benefited from similar donations. Having become “millionaires”, they were able to finance housing, libraries or football stadiums. In Ploubezre, elected officials, who accepted the legacy, can now think regarding the forms their investments might take.
