Côte d’Ivoire is “making all the arrangements” for Blaise Compaoré’s trip to Ouagadougou

Ouagadougou, July 6, 2022(AIB)- Ivorian government spokesman Amadou Coulibaly said on Wednesday that his country is “taking all the measures” for the former Burkinabe president, Blaise Compaoré to surrender. in Ouagadougou, in order to participate “actively” in the process of reconciliation initiated in Burkina Faso.

“All arrangements are being made for President Blaise Compaoré to actively participate in the reconciliation process that is underway in Burkina Faso,” said Wednesday the spokesman for the Ivorian government, Amadou Coulibaly, at the end of the Council of Ministers.

The same day in Burkina Faso, the spokesperson for the Burkinabè government Lionel Bilgo judged, “very probable and expected”, the arrival of Mr. Compaoré, within the framework of a meeting “in person” in Ouagadougou, between former chiefs of Burkinabè State around the question of national reconciliation.

However, the two ministers did not specify the date of this meeting, but a press release from the presidency of Faso published later in the day indicates that the meeting is scheduled for Friday, July 8th.

The same press release mentioned that “this important meeting for the life of the Nation does not hinder the legal proceedings initiated once morest some”.

As a reminder, President Blaise Compaoré has resided in Côte d’Ivoire since his loss of power in October 2014, following a popular uprising.
