John Sotelo was moving boxes of bottled water when he saw the envelope, CNN reports.
The employee wasted no time following realizing what it contained and immediately told his bosses.
They were able to find the customer using surveillance cameras and her Costco membership card.
The woman came into the store and was able to get her money back.
“It’s crazy because when my supervisor brought me outside, the lady was there and she shook my hand for a good 20 seconds,” Mr. Sotelo said in an interview with CNN. She said to me “I’m so glad you found it because it will help my children go to school”. I told him I was happy to be able to help him.”
This good deed allowed John Sotelo to be named employee of the month in his store.
