HC Ambri-Piotta, 11th in the National League, has obtained the loan of Canadian striker Cory Conacher (32) from CP Bern. He will stay until the end of the season at Valascia.
The former Lausanne and Bern player also played 203 NHL games. In the capital, he might be considered as the seventh choice behind Kaspar Daugavins (LAT), Dominik Kahun (GER), Dustin Jeffrey (CAN), Christian Thomas (CAN), Phil Varone (CAN) and the last arrived, Cody Goloubef (CAN).
In fact, CP Bern explained that due to the injury of Ramon Untersander, it was necessary to find a foreign reinforcement (Goloubef). But this commitment was only possible if one of the six foreign players under contract left the club. Conacher agreed to leave. The capital club stresses that it is aware that it has allowed a direct competitor club to strengthen itself at its expense.
Conacher has still played 36 games this season with the Bernese (13 goals / 7 assists). In Leventina, the ‘foreign’ competition will be less strong with Juuso Hietanen (FIN), Brandon McMillan (CAN), Steve Moses (CAN ), Matt D’Agostini (CAN) and Peter Regin (DEN).
