The Corruption Crime Directorate (Ditipidkor) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police confirmed that it had summoned 22 people as witnesses in the alleged corruption case of the 2020 Solar Street Lighting (PJUTS) project at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. Of that number, 16 witnesses have been questioned, while the rest are scheduled to be questioned.

“Currently, 22 people have been summoned, with 16 people already being questioned, and 6 more people scheduled for questioning,” said Deputy Director of Corruption Crimes (Wadirtipidkor) Senior Commissioner Arief Adiharsa when confirmed on Thursday (25/7).

Arief did not reveal the identities of the witnesses because the investigation process is still ongoing. He also said that the determination of suspects might be done after the examination of witnesses.

“Many investigations and other actions have been carried out to gather evidence. If the evidence is sufficient, it will be continued with the determination of the suspect,” said Arief.

Arief also added that during the examination process, no party obstructed the investigation, and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources was cooperative.

“Until now there have been no obstacles, and progress is according to plan,” said Arief.

Previously, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Indonesian National Police searched the office of the Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Thursday (4/7), and confiscated various pieces of evidence such as documents, mobile phones, hard disk, flash disk, HDD, computer CPU, to laptop.

The PJUTS project is a government program run by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through the Directorate General of EBTKE with funding sources from the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN).

Due to this alleged corruption, the state is estimated to have suffered losses of up to Rp64 billion, although this figure could still change because the investigation is still ongoing. (Z-20)
