The Corruption Eradication COMMISSION (KPK) responded to the insinuation of its preventive function in the case of alleged fraud in the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE) at the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes). The Anti-Corruption Agency admitted that it had minimized criminal acts in the project when carrying out supervision.
“If there was no KPK, it would be even worse (the corrupt actions),” said KPK spokesman Ali Fikri at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta, Friday (19/4).
The Head of the Corruption Eradication Commission’s News Department explained that his party had indicated that foul play had occurred since monitoring the project. He hopes that no party will distort the facts in this case.
“In fact, at the beginning there was a Corruption Eradication Committee (KPK) there, and there was also information regarding illegal acts,” said Ali.
The action was taken following prevention efforts might not stop dirty play in the project. State losses in this case are estimated at hundreds of billions of rupiah.
“That’s what we then resolved the case, that there was indeed an unlawful act, there were allegations of loss to the state, harm to other parties, that’s what we are currently resolving,” said Ali.

Previously, the Main Director of Energi Kita Indonesia, Satrio Wibowo, assessed that the Corruption Eradication Committee had failed to prevent corruption in the procurement of PPE. Because, he continued, the Anti-Corruption Agency is part of the team assigned to ensure there is no dirty play in the project.
“So, it’s very unfortunate, the Corruption Eradication Commission is also present (in the prevention team), but there is no firmness,” said Satrio at the KPK’s Red and White Building, South Jakarta.
Satrio said that the Corruption Eradication Committee was present at various meetings discussing the procurement of the project. He was confused by the reason why the Anti-Corruption Agency was only blaming the alleged corruption now.
