Vienna (OTS) – The STELLA Performing Arts Prize for Young Audiences was awarded for the first time in 2007 and is the first Austria-wide prize for outstanding achievements in the performing arts for young audiences. STELLA is an initiative of ASSITEJ Austria, the umbrella organization of the Austrian performing arts scene for young audiences. It is intended to show the potential, creativity and versatility of this genre. For the STELLA*24, the four-person jury, consisting of Barbara Carli, Helen Isaacson, Götz Leineweber and Danielle Strahm-Fendt, made a total of 24 nominations in 5 categories. The nominations cover productions from 17 different Austrian theater groups and houses from seven federal states, which brought outstanding productions for children and young people to the stage with their ensembles in 2023. The Awarding of the STELLA*24 will take place on Friday, November 22nd, 2024 in the presence of prominent guests and laudators from business, politics and culture in Carinthia. Theaters, groups and individuals from Carinthia, Upper Austria, Salzburg, Styria, Tyrol, Vorarlberg and Vienna are nominated. These nominees include three international collaborations with Uganda, Switzerland and the Netherlands. In the days before, from November 18th to 22nd, 2024, the nominated pieces in the categories “Outstanding Production for Children” and “Outstanding Production for Young People” will be presented at a festival in the Bambergsaal Villach, the Neue Bühne Villach, and the Kammerspiele Klagenfurt, among others as well as the Klagenfurt valve.
