A total of 2,182 people positive for the coronavirus are currently hospitalized, including 180 patients treated in intensive care (-9%). Between March 6 and 12, 8,075 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day, up 30% compared to the previous week.
Over the same period, 19 people died per day on average while they were carrying the virus (-2%), bringing the death toll to 30,472 since the start of the pandemic in Belgium.
Nearly 34,800 tests on average were also carried out daily, for a positivity rate of 25.3%.
The reproduction rate of the virus is 1.08. When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic tends to accelerate. The incidence, which provides the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 867 over 14 days.
