Coronavirus – 48,969 new cases in Switzerland in 72 hours, 36 dead

175 people have been hospitalized in the past three days. The reproduction rate (R) is 0.82.

Neuchâtel still has the highest incidence in Switzerland with 5,361 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past 14 days. Swiss average: 4036.

48,969 new people tested positive, 175 additional hospitalizations and 36 deaths recorded in Switzerland and Liechtenstein: this is the assessment of the pandemic for the last three days, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) said on Monday. Compared to last week, the number of cases has dropped significantly (68,619 last Monday). In the last 72 hours, 150,869 tests have been carried out and the positivity rate for PCR tests is 40.9% (35.6% for rapid antigen tests).

The intensive care unit occupancy rate is 71.3%: 22.3% Covid patients and 48.9% non-Covid. There are also 98,189 people in isolation.

There are now 4,036 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past fourteen days. As for the reproduction rate (R) posted today by the FOPH, it is 0.82. In French-speaking Switzerland, it is 0.68 in Geneva, 0.74 in the Jura, 0.79 in Valais in Neuchâtel and in the canton of Vaud and 0.83 in Fribourg.

In total, since the start of the pandemic, Switzerland has counted 12,573 deaths, 45,072 hospitalizations and 2,586,698 people who tested positive for coronavirus.

With 4,036 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (5,151 last Monday), the fourteen-day incidence rate in Switzerland is higher, according to WHO figures, than that of Italy (2,066) and Germany ( 3135) but lower than France (4190) and Austria (5097).

Switzerland now has 68.6% of its population fully vaccinated (77.9% if only those over 12 are counted) and 1.4% partially. In the French-speaking cantons, it is 71% of people fully vaccinated (2.9% partially) in Neuchâtel, 69.8% (1%) in the canton of Vaud, 69% (1%) in Fribourg, 69% ( 1.9%) in Geneva, 66.1% (4.3%) in Valais and 63.8% (3.1%) in the Jura.

40.9% of the population received a booster dose. This proportion is 75.4% among those aged 65 and over.
