  • Proper use of chinstrap in closed spaces, especially at times of high circulation of respiratory viruses.
  • Adequate ventilation of environments.
  • frequent hand washing
  • Do not go to work, educational, social activities or public places in the presence of symptoms.

Regarding public transport, the Ministry recommended “wearing a chinstrap covering the nose, mouth and chin throughout the trip and keeping windows open if possible”.

Regarding health establishments, the national portfolio recommended:

  • Verify vaccination status of all workers.
  • Establish triage strategies, establishing well-differentiated flows between patients with respiratory symptoms and the rest of those who go to emergency or spontaneous demand sectors.
  • Maintain standard precautions for prevention of acute respiratory infections.
  • Use of chinstrap: it is recommended that all those who attend a health facility use a chinstrap, both patients and companions, to reduce exposure to respiratory viruses. The same applies to all health personnel in direct contact with patients.

In the case of asymptomatic people, Salud reiterated that those over 50 years of age, who have risk conditions or are personnel who work with vulnerable people, have priority to undergo a diagnostic test when symptoms appear.

In turn, if the person does not belong to these groups and has mild symptoms, it is best to take precautions not to transmit to others. It is not necessary to be tested, since the precautions are the same for all respiratory infections.

It adds that you should not go to work, educational activities or public places while you have symptoms, you should wear a mask for 10 days from the onset of symptoms in closed places, wash your hands, ventilate the rooms and avoid contact with vulnerable people.

Finally, in the event of a confirmed diagnosis or symptoms compatible with Covid, the Ministry of Health recommends:

  • If you are over 50 years of age or have risk conditions and the test was positive, you must do what is recommended but, in addition, a strict clinical control and follow the recommendations indicated.
