Corona: The wife of Health Minister Johannes Rauch criticizes the quarantine

The plans for a possible quarantine end are causing fierce criticism and a lack of understanding from SPÖ state governors, among others. The chairwoman of the SPÖ Vorarlberg, Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger, a private doctor and married to Rauch, also criticizes the planned end of the quarantine.

In view of those returning from vacation and the imminent start of school, there are fears that the number of corona will continue to rise, according to Gabriele Sprickler-Falschlunger, in private life both a general practitioner and the wife of the Minister of Health: “An end to the quarantine in view of the autumn wave that is just around the corner and already higher Summer numbers is definitely the wrong decision by Minister of Health Rauch.”

Infected in the care sector “unthinkable”

For them it is also completely unthinkable that people who have been proven to be infected would work in hospitals or nursing homes. In her opinion, preparation for the autumn wave is much more urgent. The social partners had already called for this.

More on this:

The isolation of people who tested positive would reduce the number of infections and thus also long-Covid or sick leave cases, according to the SPÖ boss from the country. “The more people are infected with the virus, the higher the number of people with this secondary disease, which in turn will trigger longer sick leave,” says Sprickler-Falschlunger, commenting on the federal government’s plans. The Minister of Health did not think along here.

Sprickler-Falschlunger and Rauch have been married since December 2021.
