In a still unpublished rough report, the Court of Audit (RH) criticizes the lack of recording of the whereabouts of corona tests in schools. No one knows where they are from around a third of the antigen tests delivered in 2021 – this corresponds to around 35 million tests worth 74 million euros, reported “Standard” and “ZiB1” on Friday. The Ministry of Education failed to ensure functioning monitoring of consumption and stocks in schools.
A total of 97.5 million Covid antigen tests were delivered to around 6,000 schools in 2021. However, according to RH, the specific whereabouts of only 62.3 million can be traced. The rest cannot be assigned – it can therefore still be stored in the schools or have been used up. “The Ministry could not ensure a functioning monitoring of the consumption of antigen tests or the existing stocks,” concludes the RH – even though inventories were repeatedly carried out. Among other things, this led to the ministry ordering a Covid test in 2021 as part of emergency procurement, although stocks were still available from Bundesbefertigungs GmbH.
