The Bernese nightclub operator Jan Kamarys became known as the “Corona test king” during the pandemic. Kamarys set up a cheap rapid test center in “Le Ciel” near the Bollwerk. This was a great success – long queues always formed in front of the bar.

After his success, the 41-year-old is now suffering a low point. Jan Kamarys received a penalty order from the public prosecutor’s office for assault and attempted coercion. This is reported by “Der Bund”.

The entrepreneur will receive a conditional fine of 58,000 francs. On top of that, he will have to pay a fine of 14,000 francs and compensation of 1,500 francs to the victim.

Former business partner owed “Corona test king” money

As the newspaper learns from the penal order, a former business partner of Jan Kamarys is the victim of the attack. The two work together in the Corona test center at Bollwerk.

But after the collaboration, a financial dispute breaks out between the two. His former business partner owes Kamarys 1.5 million francs.

The “Corona test king” met his debtor in the summer of 2022 in the Kursaal event venue in Bern. “By chance,” as he later said himself. When Kamarys, along with three people accompanying him, followed his ex-business partner into an elevator, the situation escalated.

First bad words fly, then fists. Jan Kamarys and his companions punch and kick the victim. The former also steals his watch. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the attackers wanted to teach the man “a lesson for his outstanding debts.”

As a result of the attack, the victim suffered injuries to his eardrum, a tooth, and several bleedings on his face.

Jan Kamarys regrets attack on former business partner

Jan Kamarys told the newspaper that he “deeply regrets” the attack in retrospect. “I want to make it clear that I am not a violent person,” he said. “What happened is not in my character.”

Nevertheless, the situation is “very emotionally stressful” for him. “The amount of debt is a serious and unacceptable loss.”
