Portuguese media reported that Brazilian Corinthians entered into negotiations with Portuguese coach Leonardo Jardim, to take over coaching the team to succeed coach Coca, who was dismissed last Thursday.

And the newspaper “Record” stated that the Brazilian club contacted the Al-Ahly youth coach in order to contract with him, but the talks were not completed, due to Jardim’s association with the “Dubai Knights” at the most important stage of the season, and Al-Ahly youth also approached the renewal of the contract with him.

She added that the Portuguese coach will play the 25th and 26th rounds of the ADNOC Professional League, noting that he needs to achieve one victory in the two matches, to achieve his first title in the Emirates, and lead Al-Ahly youth to win the league title.

And she added that the Corinthians administration has not decided the identity of the new coach who will lead the team, stressing that Jardim’s contract with Shabab Al-Ahly expires next June, which makes the Brazilian club consider leaving the door open to contracting with the Portuguese coach.

And she concluded that the former French coach of Monaco is also a candidate to return to training in one of the European leagues, following he contacted more than one team to win his services next season.

For its part, the Brazilian newspaper “Globo” said that Corinthians announced the departure of its coach, Coca, one week following he took over as coach of the team, following the protests that emerged calling for his departure because of his accusation in an ethical case in 1987.

She indicated that Coca became the owner of the shortest training period in the history of the club, surpassing Juninho, who led the team in 2003 for only 12 days, as the 59-year-old coach led Corinthians in two matches, where he lost from Goiás in the Brazilian League, before leading The team qualified for the round of 16 of the Brazilian Cup by defeating Remo on penalties, following which the management of the Brazilian club decided to dismiss him from his position, and contacted Leonardo Jardim to take over the task immediately.

On the other hand, Al-Emarat Al-Youm learned that Shabab Al-Ahly was close to renewing Leonardo Jardim’s contract, especially since the team presented very good levels under his leadership during the current season, and the team became one step away from winning the league title for the first time since the 2015-2016 season. And the eighth in its history, the “Dubai Knights” ranked second in the list of the most title-winning clubs, behind Al-Ain, which has 14 titles, and ahead of Al-Wasl with seven titles.

Leonardo Jardim has great experience in European leagues, and the same is true in Asia, as it is his most prominent station in Europe, which began in 2003 with his compatriot Kamcha, then took over the coaching of the Portuguese clubs Braga and Sporting, and the Greek Olympiacos (with whom he won the league and cup titles in 2013), and Monaco (2013). He was crowned with him the French League champion in 2017 following an absence of 17 years).

The Brazilian club contacted Jardim and the talks were not completed.
