The “Smile of the Child” structure in Corfu is closing after 30 years of operation.
The problem is the square meters in the kitchen, which do not meet the requirements as it is a listed building and it is not possible to make the necessary conversions.
“There had to be an abundance of love, for all people and especially for children. That’s how the Child’s Smile started and that’s how we embraced it. Now for a few square meters, under such conditions, with such suitable staff, with such a structure… 28 whole years of the Child’s Smile, 21 to us with a law now that Mrs. Michailidou counts a few points and not the love and continuation of a structure for the benefit of the children’s souls and their lives is unacceptable”, the mayor of northern Corfu, Giorgos Mahimaris, stressed, among others, on ERT3 and the show “Perimetros”.
