Córdova invites citizens to follow the revocation results in real time

The president counselor of the National Electoral Institute (INE), Lorenzo Córdova Vianello, stressed that the conditions are in place to provide confidence in the April 10 mandate revocation process, whose evolution of results can be followed in real time and virtually. From the closing of the polls and as the electoral packages are transferred and received in the 300 district councils of the INE “the legal counting of the votes will begin, which will be visible to the public through a system that will be updated in real time ”, he exposed.

Thousands of citizens have already been trained to attend to the revocation, said Lorenzo Córdova.

Thousands of citizens have already been trained to attend to the revocation, said Lorenzo Córdova.

This will allow to give “absolute transparency to the exercise”, he guaranteed. The INE will offer the same night of April 10 preliminary results and on Monday 11 final results. Preliminary results will be available because on Sunday the 10th a quick count statistical exercise will take place, which with a sample of 1,800 polling stations out of a total of 57,517 that will be installed, “will allow us to have a very reliable estimate of the turnout and the electoral result in the same night as election day,” Córdova said. Meanwhile, the official results will begin to be integrated on Sunday, the result of the calculation in each of the 300 district councils, which will be the ones that are entered into the system and that can be consulted in real time. “This will allow for absolute transparency in the exercise and will allow the day following the process to have the final results,” Córdova explained in his video message on Twitter.

That is why he maintained: “everything is ready for the revocation process to be carried out on April 10 in peace and with conditions of legality, certainty, transparency and absolute trust.” To achieve the above, the INE began preparing the exercise, he recalled, nine months ago. In addition, today more than 287,000 citizens are appointed and fully trained to receive and count the opinions of their neighbors in the 57,517 polling stations that will be installed. The INE has approved more than 2,400 applications from people who will serve as electoral observers and 52 foreign visitors from 18 countries, who are interested in observing this unprecedented exercise, have been accredited. This is how all the conditions of certainty are set “despite the repeated attempts of some political actors to hinder the performance of this exercise by challenging over and over once more all the important decisions that have been made and also repeatedly violating the rules established in the Constitution,” Córdova said. “In other words, despite the traps and thanks to the citizens who trust and collaborate with their INE, the revocation of the mandate is going very well,” he added.
