The swab center of the Parque de las Naciones in the city of Córdoba will close this March 31. It was the last place of testing for coronavirus maintained by the provincial government.
Meanwhile, the Municipality of the capital, which currently has 12 swab centers, will only leave 4 open until April 30, when they will analyze the convenience or not of this service in a pandemic.
The three mass vaccination centers in the Capital will also be closed: the Convention Center, the Argentine Pavilion and the Orfeo.
What did they argue from the Ministry of Health of Córdoba?
From the Ministry of Health of Córdoba they argued that it is no longer necessary for everyone to be tested, but only when the person has symptoms. The coronavirus has now become part of the combo of respiratory pathogens that are monitored during the winter, such as influenza and respiratory syncytial virus, for example.
For this reason, they stressed, it is better for the person with symptoms to go to a health center. There you can test it for coronavirus and, if it is not, they can diagnose other conditions.
The focus is on patients at risk, on sentinel surveillance of hospitalizations for COVID-19 and also of acute respiratory infections at the first level of health care.
“In the current epidemiological context, the protocol provides as an initial action to rule out coronavirus with an antigen test, to then continue with the corresponding studies and referrals. In addition, the new strategy also seeks to prioritize the detection of the syncytial virus in children under five years of age”, explained from the health portfolio.

There will be no more daily count of coronavirus cases
The Province also stopped publishing the daily case report. The daily data of new cases can be consulted on the website, but there is no longer a detail of the number of tests carried out. The last daily report was from March 15. That day, 4,163 tests had been carried out.

The vision of the Secretary of Health of the City of Córdoba
Meanwhile, Ariel Aleksandroff, Secretary of Health of the Municipality of Córdoba, indicated as compiled by La Voz that from this Friday only the swab centers located in the former Civil Registry, Valle Escondido, Paseo del Jockey and CPC Argüello will remain open.
“At the end of April we will evaluate if it is necessary for these four to continue operating. We don’t know what can happen this winter,” he said.
Aleksandroff acknowledged that the demand for swabs has dropped a lot. Between last Saturday and Sunday, the municipal centers carried out 1,326 tests and detected 42 positives. During the peak of the third wave in January, up to 10,000 tests were being carried out daily.
The official added that the focus is now on moving forward with the vaccination campaign once morest COVID-19 and also with the flu.
