Córdoba: the sad and complex plot of the woman who suffocated her mother, under the magnifying glass

Moments before the final act, Celeste Rodríguez (30) had the lucidity to send her three daughters to the pantry to do some shopping. Actually, she is discovered now, she did not want them to see the horror that was going to happen.

After murdering her sick mother, María Rosa Ravetti (59), Celeste called the police station from her cell phone.

“I sent them to my mom. Come… I sent them to me, ”she told the police officer who attended her, between tears.

The uniformed officer forced her not to end the call until the patrol car arrived at the home.

Celeste never attempted to elope or make any other determination. Broken and aware of everything, she waited for the policemen. And she opened them.

Without wasting a moment, the uniformed men went straight into the room. There was nothing left to do.

Since that Wednesday night, February 1, Celeste Rodríguez has been imprisoned in the Women’s Prison.

Housed in a special pavilion, she is accused of homicide qualified by the link. In the event of a trial with popular juries, and with that criminal cover, she awaits life imprisonment.

But things are not so linear in this complex story.

Celeste lived in her own hell and without seeing or having an apparent way out, as evidenced on her social networks and as it already appears in the legal case that begins to accumulate pages.

Her life was divided between work as a domestic employee, with which she supported the home, the care of her three daughters between the ages of 4 and 15; and mainly full care for her mother Rosa de ella, who lived in that house since the pandemic and who suffered from various illnesses and complications. She was almost prostrate.

The mother-daughter relationship had become increasingly conflictive and had entered a cone from which Celeste saw no way out among so many care tasks.

In prison, the defendant already had contacts with the legal adviser who will defend her from now on.

Next week it will be investigated by the Cosquín prosecutor, Paula Kelm, who is carrying out the investigation into this complicated case.

With the passing of the days, the prosecutor knows that she has to decide if she maintains the burdensome accusation once morest the woman or if she moigers her.

Listening to the defendant, hearing her story from her mouth and everything she contributes in the investigation will be of vital importance, they understand in court.

In parallel, the prosecutor has already ordered rigorous psychiatric expert reports to be carried out: this will make it possible to determine if Celeste has any mental pathology, which one she has and if she was aware at the time she did what she did.

All this will be vital to know and determine if it is attributable or not in the future.

hell indoors

Everything detonated last Wednesday, February 1, in the humble home at 195 Riccheri Street, in the El Faldeo neighborhood of Capilla del Monte, north of the Punilla valley.

The investigation, developed by judicial and police investigations, is shedding light on a dense and complex intra-family plot.

Celeste and her mother did not get along. In fact, they had begun to have a more than difficult relationship in recent times. “They never had a good relationship, as it turns out. And things got worse,” graphed a source with access to the investigation.

Rosa had had a stroke, suffered from Alzheimer’s and had cancer. Due to her health complications, including pneumonia, she was admitted to the Domingo Funes de Punilla Regional Hospital.

It was not easy for him to get ahead. Despite everything, her daughter never abandoned her and she would have been the only family company in that health center, according to sources of the cause.

During the pandemic, for reasons of force majeure, Rosa moved into Celeste’s house.

The woman, already in the care of her three little daughters, separated from her then partner. Some time later, she would have another relationship from which she would also distance herself.

Already last December, the situation became even more complex. Rosa had a major relapse and her health picture went downhill. She practically mightn’t move. She had a new stroke.

As it already appears from the case, in order to take care of her mother and not stop doing the same with her daughters, Celeste was forced to spend more time at home without being able to go out to work to earn money and support the home. “The girl had to dedicate herself to the care of her mother and her little ones in an absolute way. Absolute”, emphasized another source with access to the investigation.

Neighbors in the area report that in recent times the shouting and arguments that arose from that home on Riccheri street, were more and more frequent and were recorded at different times of the day.

Celeste found the channel to vent on her social networks. Or perhaps, to cry out for help.

The prosecution is working to determine what happened to the official entities.

“I don’t give more, nobody helps me. I’m tired. Exhausted ”, she reads in one of her posts. “Everyone washes their hands and leaves everything to me. And yes, I am strong, but I get tired ”, reads a recent publication.

In another post, he wrote: “I asked for a long time for help. Nobody helped me, nobody answered. I hope my daughters are okay. God forgive me”.

In January, Celeste posted on her Instagram account: “First Demian, then the old man and I know you’ll be leaving soon. I play strong but I’m not, it hurts a lot to see you how you are.

As reported, Celeste received assistance from the municipality with child feeding plans and held a scholarship in the recycling sector until she resigned. It was said: she had to take care of her.

The judicial investigation continues and advances in the collection of testimonies and different evidence.

All eyes are on what Celeste declares in the prosecution.
