Córdoba: the increase in the transport ticket is postponed until July

Córdoba, Rosario and Santa Fe have been simultaneously implementing the so-called “federal tariff” of urban transport of passengers. In all three cities the ticket is currently $99.

According to an article from The capital of Rosario, due to the inflationary acceleration and the increase in the costs of the transport service, in the last days the technical teams of the three municipalities were analyzing the update of the federal ratelaunched some time ago as a claim from the interior to the federal government for the inequitable distribution of subsidies.

The strike of the nucleated drivers in the Automotive Tramway Union (UTA) scheduled for last Tuesday stopped the efforts, but the mandatory conciliation cleared up the conflict until mid-June and reopened the negotiations for the rate.

Thus, this Wednesday the Rosario newspaper reported that the municipality “analyzes issuing a decree today to raise the urban transport ticket by 20%”, with which the price per ticket would cost $120 within 15 days.

According to the implementation of the “federal rate”, the ticket increase in Rosario should be replicated in Santa Fe and Córdoba. However, from the Secretary of Transportation of the Cordoba municipality they flatly ruled out a tariff update: “It is not planned to increase the ticket in this part of the year.”

Although they recognize that inflation and the cost variable undermine the economic interests of borrowing companies, the Municipality of Córdoba decided that the increase in flat travel “will only occur in July or early August.” It should be remembered that on July 23 there will be municipal elections.

Therefore, the urban transport ticket in the city of Córdoba will continue to cost $99. The last increase occurred in early February from $85 to the current rate.
