The Government of Córdoba has completed a series of sanitation projects in the Lake San Roque basin, a key infrastructure for the treatment of sewage waste in the Punilla Valley, Will impact the lives of more than 240,000 residents in 20 locations.

These works are Sewer Sanitation Strategic Plan The completion of the project marks fundamental progress in the protection of one of the region’s major water bodies.

Governor Martín Lagliola, who presided over the inauguration event in San Antonio de Arredondo this Friday, underlined the promise fulfilled by the provincial management: “This is a historical fact,” said the governor. “I have promised to complete the construction of all basins by the end of the year. Despite the economic downturn and the difficulties faced by the countrywe’ve done our job, we’ve done it”.

The completed infrastructure covers southern and central basin Lake San Roque sewer system, $57.6 million investment.

These improvements will benefit the community, e.g. Villa Carlos Paz, Cosquín, Santa María de Punilla, Bialet Masséas well as other neighboring towns. In this way, sewage can be fully treated before being discharged into the lake.

Subdivision of works: South Basin and Middle Basin

South Basin:

The investment amount is $14.5 millionWorks in the southern basin are carried out in the southern areas of Cuesta Blanca, Villa Icho Cruz, Tala Huasi, Mayu Sumaj, San Antonio de Arredondo and Villa Carlos Paz.

In total they installed 16 kilometers of sewers and driveways and six pumping stations to transport wastewater to the Costa Azul Bypass treatment plant.

Central Basin:

For the central basin, the project requires an investment of more than US$30 millionbenefiting 121,600 residents of Cosquín, Santa María de Punilla and Bialet Massé.

Works include 25 kilometers of main pipelineequipped with manholes and inspection rooms, ensuring a highly efficient sanitation system with less impact on the environment.

Plan to ensure sustainable development of Punila Valley

Sanitary facilities at Lake Saint-Roch are part of a provincial work plan to reduce pollution and sustainably manage water resources. The plan covers more than 3.8 million people throughout Córdoba and represents Total investment US$613 million.

Now local authorities will be able to implement family connectionwhich will enable residents of each city to integrate their homes into the sanitation network.
