There is nothing more tragic for a teacher or a school principal than having to suffer the death of one of their students. However, this is unfortunately what the educational team at the Habay-la-Vieille municipal school is experiencing. Little Wassim Touassi, 3 years old, who died this Saturday, was educated at this establishment. Angélique Moris, the director of the establishment, learned the news this weekend. “This is the first time that I have experienced such a situation and I really hope not to experience it once more,” she explains. To pay a final tribute to the three-year-old boy, the pupils of the local school inflated balloons on which they attached a little something. “Some made a little drawing, flowers, with their hands. We released the balloons all together,” assures Angélique Moris.

The child’s father still incarcerated
As a reminder, Wassim’s father, Mohammed Taoussi, was placed under arrest warrant by the Arlon Investigating Judge yesterday followingnoon. The three-year-old boy was found unresponsive in his home in Habay-la-Vieille last Saturday. The circumstances of his death remain unclear and investigators remain very cautious. According to the spokesperson for the Public Prosecutor’s Office, magistrate Anne-Sophie Guilmot, the Council Chamber will have to rule on whether or not the father of the family should be kept in detention, probably this Friday followingnoon. Unknown to the justice system, the man had been going through difficult times since the death of his partner, Norma Prester, last February.
