Coordinating MINISTER for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menkopolhukam) Hadi Tjahjanto will form a task force to handle child pornography cases. He emphasized that this case could not be resolved by one ministry or agency.
“We formed a task force to synergize collaboration across ministries by formulating an action plan,” said Hadi in a press conference at the Kemenkopolhukam, Jakarta, Thursday (18/4)
Hadi explained that each ministry and related institution has its own efforts in handling child pornography cases. So joint handling efforts are needed.
“We carry out the stages of prevention, handling, law enforcement and post-incident,” he explained.
Hadi said the task force would consist of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), the Prosecutor’s Office Agung, the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK).
“Hopefully the task force that was formed can solve the problems that occur in society and provide education and outreach,” he explained.
Furthermore, based on data from the National Center for Missing Exploited Children (NCMEC), 5,566,015 pieces of child pornography content were found in Indonesia over four years. The average victim is 12-14 years old.
Apart from that, Hadi said that the Ministry of Communication and Information (Kemenkominfo) had taken down 1,950,794 child pornographic content as of September 14 2023. (Z-8)
