Despite the sanctions, Hungary was allowed to cooperate with the Russian Metrovagonmash as an exception, writes June 22 Bloomberg. The fact is that Russian cars are needed in the subway of the Hungarian capital. They have been working there since Soviet times, since 1970.

“Metrovagonmash” serves cars that carry passengers on the third line of the Budapest subway. In 2017, the company repaired trains. This year, the media wrote that nine out of 37 cars on this line “do not work.”

The list of goods that were allowed to be delivered to Hungary included the wagons themselves, safety glass and some mechanisms. Service is also allowed.

Since May, Metrovagonmash has been under US sanctions, writes RBC. After the plant came under restrictions, the Tbilisi City Hall decided to terminate the contract with it.
