THOUSAND OAKS, California, USA (AP) — Receiver Cooper Kupp might make his season debut on Sunday in the Los Angeles Rams’ game once morest the Philadelphia Eagles.
Coach Sean McVay said Friday that Kupp will be activated from the injured list and will play at SoFi Stadium “unless something happens in the next 48 hours.”
Kupp returned to practice this week with the Rams (2-2) following missing the first month of the regular season with a hamstring injury. The Super Bowl 56 MVP was injured at the start of training camp, but aggravated the injury in late August.
“He looked like Cooper, which is a good thing,” McVay noted. “He has worked hard. You can’t simulate games in training, but he is very comfortable. He is conscious. He seems like he moves very well. Simply having him in person is a boost.”
Kupp has not played since mid-November 2022. He missed the final eight games of last season with an ankle injury following catching 75 passes for 812 yards and six touchdowns.
Kupp had one of the best seasons ever in 2021 and won the triple crown of receptions before leading the Rams to the Super Bowl title. In addition to being Super Bowl MVP following catching the winning touchdown pass once morest Cincinnati, Kupp was named AP Offensive Player of the Year.
McVay also indicated that offensive lineman Jospeh Noteboom will not play once morest the unbeaten Eagles due to a groin injury. Tackle Alaric Jackson has been limited in practice this week with a hamstring injury, but he is expected to play.
