“Cool thrill”: Brothers rob a sports store with machetes

According to the police, the two are suspected of threatening an employee with a 60 centimeter long machete and stealing cash and clothing at the beginning of March while wearing masks, it was said on Tuesday. They initially managed to escape, the police launched a manhunt and investigated the boys.

Ordered machete online

After the arrest, the older brother denied the crime and kept quiet regarding his accomplice, but following the criminal police found clues, the 16-year-old confessed and also named his younger brother as an accomplice during the second interrogation. According to their own statements, the two boys from Germany wanted to experience a “cool thrill” and make money, reported the Styria State Police Department. The two probably ordered the machete online and in preparation they watched videos of robberies on the internet.

The weapon and much of the loot were confiscated, the police said. This was hidden in a computer case in the teenagers’ apartment. The 27-year-old saleswoman, who was threatened with a machete at the checkout counter, has not yet recovered from the attack and is on sick leave.
