A judge in West Virginia has ordered a man to pay $500,000 in child support to the daughter of the man he killed.

Judge Gregory Howard of the Cabell County Circuit Court made the decision in the case against Bobby Thompson, who was sentenced in 2017 to 15 years in prison for manslaughter in connection with the murder of Raymond Chapman, 22.

Although the decision was made at the beginning of the month, it was not until last week that the opinion was reported.

The Herald-Dispatch report indicates that, at the time of Chapman’s death in 2016, this she paid $250 a month for the care of her daughter who was 3 years old at the time.

At the trial against the criminal, Thompson’s wife testified that he found her with Chapman in a car, so he confessed to her the extramarital relationship he had with the man. Supposedly, Thompson already knew that his wife was with someone else.

Thompson was released in March 2021; is not on probation or supervised release.

At the moment, the convict pays alimony to his two children. The order for the payment of $500,000 to the daughter of the man she murdered includes four percent interest, and the money is to be placed in a trust fund to which the beneficiary will be able to access once she turns 18. Thompson has the option of disbursing the imposed amount in a single payment.
