In the first Twenty20 against West Indies, Sanju was given the role of finisher
Former Pakistan player Kamran Akmal criticized the Indian cricket team management for dropping Sanju Samson at number six in the first Twenty20 against West Indies.
“Is Sanju batting at No.6 in IPL? He will be given a chance at number 4 where Sanju plays. In the absence of Rohit and Kohli, Sanju should be slotted at number four or five. “If Sanju was given the No. 6 position because he played aggressively in ODIs, understand that it doesn’t always happen,” Akmal said on his YouTube channel.
“When India came in to bat, I felt that the captain, the coach and the management were overconfident. They may have felt it was a small goal. They had no clear plan. I saw the experiments, but there was no plan behind the experiments,” added Akmal.
India lost the first Twenty20 by four runs. West Indies scored 149 runs for the loss of six wickets in the stipulated over. Batting in reply, India’s struggle ended on 145 runs.
West Indies take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Twenty20 series with the win.
