Deyna Castellanos offered some statements following the 4-0 victory over her counterpart from Costa Rica on the first day of the group stage of the Central American and Caribbean Games played in San Salvador. The Venezuelan striker criticized the infrastructure of the Las Delicias Stadium and the weather conditions in which they have been playing.

“They have been great hosts and the effort is appreciated. With that said, we do not have the necessary conditions as professional players; the heat is not being taken into account during the schedules and that is dangerous, especially with an artificial field and the changing rooms without showers I hope these situations can be improved. Women’s football is growing, but these conditions do not reflect that”, commented the international Vinotinto at the end of the match.

Likewise, following the match once morest Haiti for the second day of the group stage, Castellanos commented that the locker room does have showers, but that they had not been enabled for the players. In turn, he pointed out his gratitude “because they took his recommendation into account and put them in the place they deserved.”

However, a Salvadoran journalist published on his Facebook account some alleged statements that Deyna Castellanos had offered following her criticism of the weather conditions. “If this country doesn’t accept constructive criticism, they will never be the country they are trying to make the world believe.”

The Manchester City player replied on her Twitter account denying the statements, assuring that she had never said such words. Minutes following publishing the reply denying the information, the author of the note deleted the publication.
