Thiruvananthapuram: In the college union election, a boy who is an organization leader was nominated instead of a girl who won for the post of councilor has become a controversy. The incident took place at Kattakkada Christian College under Kerala University. It is alleged that this impersonation is aimed at bringing the student leader under the leadership of the university union.

College union elections were held here on December 12. Aromal and Anagha of the SFI panel won the post of University Union Councilor (UUC). However, when the names of the counselors were transferred from the college to the university, instead of Anagha, the name of A Visakh, a first year B.Sc student of the college was there. Visakh is the Area Secretary of SFI Kattakkada. A leading media reports that Visakh did not contest the college union elections.

The officers of the University Union are elected by voting from among the UUCs elected from the colleges. Allegations are being raised that manipulation was done at the college level to make Visakh the chairman of the Kerala University Union. The election of university union office bearers is on 26th.

The reaction of the college principal was that the girl who won as UUC had expressed her willingness to resign and suggested someone else. But it is indicated that the pressure of some leaders of CPM and SFI is behind the impersonation.

CPM’s state and district leaderships and Kerala University have received complaints regarding impersonation.
