He was a supporter of AFC Sunderland and the England national team.

Two Sheffield Wednesday supporters mocked him in the stadium – with consequences.

In England, police have arrested two men who are said to have made fun of the death of a little boy at the second division football match between Sheffield Wednesday and AFC Sunderland in order to provoke Sunderland fans. South Yorkshire Police said the two men, aged 27 and 31, were suspected of insulting public decency.

The men had already been taken into custody on Saturday, and photos of the alleged provocation had previously circulated on the Internet. It showed one of the two Sheffield fans holding up a photo of Bradley Lowery while they both laughed during last Friday’s game. Lowery was an ardent Sunderland fan who became something of a mascot for the club during his battle with a rare cancer. He died in 2017 at the age of six.

Club apologizes

A Sheffield Wednesday spokesman condemned the two men’s alleged behavior and said they would support the investigation. “We can only apologize for the distress this has undoubtedly caused to Bradley’s family and friends,” it said. Sheffield lost the home game once morest Sunderland 0-3.
