A Halloween decoration is the subject of debate in Chimay, even though it has existed for 10 years. But this year, it shocks some residents. This is a mannequin regarding to be guillotined.
“I don’t like it at all because it makes me think regarding the horrible things that are happening in the world at the moment. I think it’s too violent”tells us a resident of the town. “It’s the first thing you see. It’s surprising, and you don’t see the rest. But it’s part of Halloween folklore,” underlines another lady.
This guillotine has been present for several years during the Halloween party. The result of the creative work of municipal workers which has never been debated before. “At least we’re talking regarding Chimay. Whether it’s good or bad… I think it’s positive. It gives energy to our workers, to create new things for next year. Let’s take that in the second degree. It’s part of the Halloween period”indicates Eric Thiry, the Works alderman.
The decorative piece will be removed on Wednesday. Halloween being over, it will no longer have its place this year.
