Last Thursday, the foreign ministers of the various member states of the European Union met in Berlin to discuss the enlargement of the EU. One moment, however, created controversy, at the time of the official photo.
Indeed, Croatian Minister Gordan Grlić-Radman first shook the hand of his neighbor and German counterpart Annalena Baerbock, before attempting to kiss her. In the images, we have the impression that the Croatian is even trying to touch the lips of the German, who ends up looking away.
After the Rubiales scandal and his forced kiss on world champion Jennifer Hermoso, this is a new affair that goes badly. If Gordan Grlić-Radman initially took the controversy as a joke, he still wanted to apologize followingwards: “We, the ministers, always greet each other cordially. If anyone saw anything wrong, so I apologize to whoever took it that way.”
If German Minister Annalena Baerbock did not wish to react, in Croatia, the images arouse anger. Rada Borić, a well-known women’s rights activist in the country, criticized “a completely inappropriate gesture”. As Politico relays, she further declares: “It seems that the minister does not know the protocol, because a ‘warmer greeting’ should be done with people with whom you have a relationship that allows you to greet them with a kiss. And here it is clear that no such relationship exists.”
