For weeks now, the luxurious furniture that will take place in the new wing of the Walloon Parliament in Namur has been causing a lot of ink to flow. In mid-April, a worker from this site had revealed to RTL the kind of furniture that the House of Parliamentarians would be equipped with, thus giving an idea of the expenses incurred. Sums validated by the former Bureau of the Walloon Parliament (which resigned following the affair of the clerk Frédéric Janssens) and which are controversial, within Parliament itselfsince in total, 2.35 million euros were spent to furnish this building.

About ten days ago, it was the public market for this same furniture that raised some questions. The specifications of the public contract were so precise that only one of the companies that submitted an offer was able to meet them. Company having already supplied the Parliament with furniture in the past and which finally won the contract.

Following these controversies, the office of Parliament, meeting on Monday, decided to put the files in the hands of Justice, that concerning the expenses for the House of parliamentarians and that on the potentially irregular call for tenders. “As soon as the case is transferred to the investigating judge, the Bureau will also be a civil party,” said the Bureau.
