Controversial Forced Kiss by Spanish Football Federation President Sparks FIFA Investigation

The International Federation of Professional Football Associations (Fifpro) has called for an investigation by FIFA once morest the president of the Spanish football federation Luis Rubiales, who forcibly kissed a La Roja player during the World Cup final.

After the victory of the Spaniards once morest the English on Sunday in Sydney, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) had forcibly kissed the player Jenni Hermoso on the mouth during the celebrations of their coronation.

Fifpro condemned Rubiales’ behavior in a statement on Wednesday, calling for “the opening of an investigation into his actions within the framework of the FIFA code of ethics”.

“We repeat that it is regrettable that such a special moment for the players of the Spanish national team, in front of cameras around the world, is marred by the inappropriate conduct of a person in a role that carries so many responsibility”, adds in its press release Fifpro, which represents more than 65,000 players distributed in national unions.

Many personalities from football but also from the political world reacted to condemn this forced kiss, including the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, who described it as “unacceptable”.
