The European interior and foreign ministers met in Berlin on Thursday. At this meeting there was an “embarrassing moment,” as Croatian media write. In a video excerpt, it appears as if Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic-Radman wanted to kiss his counterpart Annalena Baerbock during a group photo.
Baerbock, for her part, turns away; the situation seems unpleasant to her. This is also how other Croatian and Bosnian media see it, as the German “Tagesschau” writes. The women’s rights activist Rada Boric spoke of a “completely inappropriate gesture”. And MP Ivana Kekin said Grlic-Radman had shamed all Croats.
At a press conference, Grlic-Radman rejected the allegations, as the news portal further reports. He wanted to “greet a colleague in a humane way”. Ministers always greet each other warmly. But he apologizes if anyone takes offense at this gesture. Baerbock has not yet commented on the incident.
