The journalist made harsh comments towards the Chilean director, following having seen the film ‘El Conde’.
A harsh criticism exposed Juan Cristóbal Guarello towards the director Pablo Larraín, this following having seen the movie Count, which was recently released on Netflix.
Broadly speaking, the film is a kind of satire, in which Jaime Vadell plays the dictator as a vampire. The sports commentator did not like the proposal.
“On Saturday I had the bad idea of watching the movie El Conde (…) and I am tired of Mr. Pablo Larraín falsifying the history of Chile (…) When there are still people looking for their relatives. When we still have the crack of the Coup d’état, “This man allows himself to trivialize the coup and make a Pinochet that is not even a caricature,” he explained.
“I love Jaime Vadell very much, I met his father when he was very young, I like him – he doesn’t look like Pinochet, he has nothing to do with Pinochet. He makes a vampire story, Pinochet flies through the air like Superman. “A mix of Wes Anderson and Tarkovsky.” he added.
@nicogutierrezo “Tell your story in Colonia Dignidad” Guarello goes with tutti once morest Pablito Larraín and “El Conde”. Guarello criticizes Pablo Larraín
Although the journalist praised the graphic quality of the film, he had harsh comments on its script, even making reference to other cinematographic works by Larraín.
“Very well filmed, very good audio, very good art, but it is clear that Mr. Larraín continues to falsify the history of Chile. He already falsified the plebiscite with the film No. No did not win because he did a good campaign, No won because there was 40% poverty in Chile and someone should tell Larraín,” he noted.
“He already falsified Neruda with that morondanga movie where a cartoonish Neruda appeared, poorly interpreted by Gnecco, which had nothing to do with Neruda’s political and poetic moment and where he appears as if he were 20 years old talking regarding love. Always talking regarding what he doesn’t understand,” he added.
At the end, an even more controversial criticism was made regarding the Chilean director, who was part of the production team of A Fantastic Woman, awarded the Oscar in 2018.
“Leave the history of Chile alone. Make an honest film, tell your story in Colonia Dignidad. Tell the truth. Even the Badilla brothers are more honest than voh, huevón (sic)”, he concluded.
