Three days following the murder of the teenager Nael at the hands of a security man, the politician John Messiha, who is of Egyptian origin and known for his hostility to immigrants, launched a campaign on the famous “Gofundme” website, saying that it aims to support the family of the Nanterre policeman called “Florian M.” He added, “Florian did his job and he He is now paying a heavy price… Let’s support him in a big way and support the implementation of the law.”
The fundraising campaign collected more than one billion euros in less than four days, as more than 43,000 people contributed to it, knowing that it was originally intended to collect only 50,000 euros, but it exceeded its goal significantly and in a record period of time.
“The price of black and Arab children’s lives” in France
Many parliamentarians, such as Thomas Portes of the France Independence Party and Eric Bothorel of Ronsons, denounced the fundraising campaign as “immoral and a scandal” that almost defines “the price of the lives of black and Arab children.” They also called on the Ministry of the Interior to remove the campaign from the Internet.
This step sparked outrage on social media, where one of the commentators said: “The message to be sent is, kill the Arabs and you will become millionaires, and the government is watching this horrific situation without moving a finger.”
For his part, French Minister of Justice Eric Dupond Moretti expressed his concern regarding the direction taken by this initiative, and warned that “the matter is not moving in the direction of calm.”
Referring to the campaign’s organizer, John Christian, who had previously worked with Eric Zemmour as his advisor, Moretti questioned the aims of his initiative and added, “I wonder if there is no exploitation of this issue.”
Nael’s grandmother, in an interview with the French BFM channel, expressed her shock at the online fundraising campaign and said: “Sadness fills my heart. My grandson was taken away from me. This man must pay the price like everyone else.”
Donations battle
At the same time, a call for donations for the murdered boy’s mother was published, but it did not seem to have had the same success as the donations for the policeman accused of premeditated murder.
Where the collection of donations for the family of Nael was announced on the “Lecce” website, and so far approximately 200 thousand euros have been collected, or 25% of the total amount collected by the policeman. What made some observers of French internal affairs ask regarding the significance of this vast difference between the two informants.
A young man of Algerian origin, 17-year-old Nael, was killed by a policeman who shot him at close range during a traffic check as he tried to flee in a car he was driving without a license.
