Controller was taking money from immigrant passengers and was caught on video

A Hellenic Train conductor was caught on video taking cash directly from migrant passengers on a commuter train, without cutting them a ticket.

The controller, in the material presented to SKAI, is seen taking money from the passengers sitting in their seats, putting it in his pocket and giving them change. In fact, the medium cited the testimony of a passenger who claimed that the controller in question, while receiving a “cash” consideration, did not give him the expected ticket.

The auditor’s past is “burdened”.
The snapshots, according to the report, were taken on the route of the suburban bus, from Athens to Chalkida. The person who filmed the scenes claims that the Hellenic Train controller in question has repeatedly engaged in this behavior – and that is precisely why he decided to record him on video.

Although the reason why the auditor makes these kinds of “exchanges” is not known, Nikos Kioutsoukis, the president of the Hellenic Train workers, was placed in charge of the incident.

As he said, “I think that the company will do the right thing when there are people who harm the company itself… Every such employee should be put out of the company. His past is burdensome.” Mr. Koutsoukis added that, “the state cannot impose good practices, but there are no good practices for private sector companies. In every European city, the only thing that is done by the people of the company is the ticket control.”

The Hellenic Train announcement
Regarding the video material in which a Suburban railway attendant is recorded receiving a sum of money from at least one passenger, without the knowledge of our company, we would like to clarify the following.

Such inappropriate incidents are unacceptable and inexcusable and in no way represent the values and professionalism of Hellenic Train employees and do not reflect the commitment of our people to deliver a high level of service.

We would like to apologize to our passengers for this unpleasant experience.

At the same time, from our side, we are investigating the causes of the incident, we have made the attendant available, while we have activated intensive internal control mechanisms.

With regard to the reports, which refer to previous disciplinary checks of the specific employee, the company clarifies that these checks were carried out at an earlier time, under the previous ownership regime.

However, this in no way justifies the fact. Our goal remains to preserve the reliability and integrity of our company, always having the passenger at the center of our actions.
