The double agreement of supervision

One of the sectors that was most affected by the debate on the minimum wage was certainly security, which employs over 100 thousand people, due to the very low minimum wages for trust services. The very low salaries also caused the judiciary to shine a light on some companies which then chose to update their salary levels. The wage issue led to a double union agreement on the contract: the first was reached in May 2023, when Anivip, Assiv, Univ, Legacoop Production and Services, Agci Servizi and Confcooperative Lavoro e Servizi reached an agreement with Filcams, Fisascat and Uiltucs for an increase of 140 euros for the average reference level, starting from 1 June 2023 to 31 May 2026. In addition to a one-off payment of 400 euros. The agreement was then updated last February, bringing the total increase for armed guards to 250 euros and the average level of trust services to 350 euros.

The balance of wood and metalworkers

In recent months, the 200 thousand wood furniture workers received an increase of 124.71 euros on the minimums which brings the increase in the last contract, signed by Federlegnoarredo and Feneal, Filca and Filleac, last June, to 260 euros. The 124.71 euros, added to the 143.80 euros paid in July 2023 bring the increase to this figure, to which a further adjustment will then be added, expected for January 2025 with which the total increase will be defined, given the ex post adjustment mechanism used in the sector. Similar to that of metalworkers who, thanks to checks and adjustments on inflation established by the safeguard clause, will receive an increase close to 300 euros, according to union estimates, with the contract expiring in June this year. And they have already made a request for an increase of 280 euros for the three-year period 2024-2027.

The galaxy of fashion

In the fashion galaxy, the contracts renewed are eyewear, leather goods and tanning, while negotiations have begun for the renewal of the footwear industries and the platform for claims from the textile and clothing industry is expected. In the eyewear sector, the agreement was signed almost a year ago: the 18 thousand workers were granted an increase of 180 euros on the overall salary, of which 167 euros on the minimums, for the three-year period 2023-2025, with an amount calculated on the validity of the contract of over 4 thousand euros.

The 56 thousand leather goods workers instead had an overall increase at the average level of 200 euros, of which 180 on the minimum which will be paid in 3 tranches: 60 euros were paid in December 2023, the same number will be paid in December 2024 and 2025 , for a paid amount of more than 3,200 euros. In tanning, the agreement between Unic and Filctem, Femca and Uiltec, which concerns 23 thousand workers, established an increase of 196 euros on the Tem and 191 euros on the minimums, divided into three tranches, of which the first will be the most significant, almost close to the half which was paid starting from March and includes an adjustment of 96 euros. Then in January 2025 another 55 will arrive and in January 2026 a further 40. In this case the amount exceeds 4 thousand euros.

The chemistry update

The chemical and pharmaceutical industries renewed the contracts of their 200 thousand workers in 2022, when Federchimica and Farmindustria reached an agreement with Filctem, Femca and Uiltec on an increase of 204 euros for the period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2025, divided into 5 tranches. The first of 50 euros paid immediately in July 2022, the second of 30 in January 2023, the third of 36 in July 2023. Then there would have been a tranche in July of this year of 68 euros and one of 20 euros in June 2025, for a total amount of approximately 4,750 euros.
