FC Bayern has terminated the contract with former CEO Oliver Kahn. President Herbert Hainer confirmed this in Sport Bild. According to the magazine, Kahn will receive a severance payment of between four and five million euros. His contract ran until the end of 2024, he was still entitled to six million euros.
Hainer said: “I was in contact with Oliver several times following the end of the season, we reached a harmonious agreement on terminating his contract. Everything went amicably.”
Kahn had been a member of the FCB board of directors since early 2020 and headed the board following Karl-Heinz Rummenigge left in 2021. In May, he had to leave early together with sports director Hasan Salihamidzic shortly before winning the championship on the last day of the game. He is said to have reacted angrily at first and wrote on Twitter regarding the “worst day of my life”.
According to Hainer, however, things have calmed down once more: “Oliver is and will remain a Bayern legend. It was therefore important for us to settle everything fairly together. He will always be a part of the FC Bayern family.”
