Palestine – The Palestinian Red Crescent Society announced the killing of an elderly Palestinian man by Israeli soldiers in Jenin yesterday, Friday, while the Israeli military operation continues in the city, its villages and its camp.
The Red Crescent said that the elderly man Tawfiq Ahmed Younis Qandil (82 years old) was killed by army bullets in the eastern neighborhood area of Jenin city.
Medical sources said that the elderly man was killed by 9 bullets fired by Israeli army snipers.
The association explained that the Israeli forces “fired at the ambulances that were transporting the martyr and another injured person in the eastern neighborhood.”
With the killing of the elderly man, the number of Palestinian dead in Jenin, Tubas and Tulkarm since dawn on Wednesday has risen to 20.
This evening, Friday, Israeli forces raided citizens’ homes in the eastern neighborhood of Jenin.
Local sources said that Israeli forces forced Palestinian citizens to leave their homes in ambulances after raiding and seizing them, and turning them into military barracks. They added that “the occupation soldiers detained a number of young men and children… and that a group of citizens were forced to leave their homes and take mountain roads, after the occupation threatened to force them to leave.”
The families appealed to the Red Cross and human rights organizations to take action to help the residents of the eastern neighborhood of Jenin.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said on Friday that its crews are facing great difficulty in responding to the appeals of citizens besieged in the city of Jenin and its camp for the third consecutive day.
Red Crescent spokeswoman Nibal Farsakh said, “The Israeli forces are obstructing the movement of ambulances and preventing crews from responding to citizens’ appeals, providing first aid to the injured and sick, and transporting martyrs.”
Farsakh confirmed that the association’s crews are being directly targeted with bullets, in addition to stopping the crews, searching the ambulances, and preventing them from entering any area in the city.
The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in Jenin said that its fighters “are engaged in fierce clashes with the Zionist enemy forces that have penetrated the vicinity of Jenin camp, using machine guns.”
The Israeli army blew up a house in the Kharouba area of Jenin.
