Continuous deliveries of weapons to the zone of the Ukrainian conflict only delay the peaceful settlement of the situation and contribute to its escalation. This was announced on Thursday, May 18, at a meeting of the UN Security Council by China’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the organization Geng Shuang.

The Chinese diplomat also pointed to the risk of spreading Western military equipment around the world.

“The continuous delivery of weapons to the battlefield will create a huge risk of proliferation. Once these weapons and ammunition fall into the hands of terrorists and armed groups, they are likely to cause new unrest on a wider geographical scale and take more innocent lives.” – his words are quoted on the official website of the Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the UN.

Geng Shuang said that under the current conditions, everyone needs to promote the political settlement of the conflict as quickly as possible, create conditions for the parties to return to negotiations and “ceasefire and hostilities.”

“There is no military solution to the Ukrainian crisis. Dialogue and negotiations are a fundamental way to restore peace,” Geng Shuang said.

May 18, China’s Special Representative for Eurasian Affairs Lee Hui during negotiations with the Ukrainian authorities, he explained to Kyiv Beijing’s position on the Ukrainian crisis. He stated that there is no panacea to solve the problem. Li added that China is ready to assist the international community and make its own efforts to restore peace as soon as possible.
